Beard Transplantation

Beard transplanting; is to transfer the hair follicles taken from the donor area to the areas where there is no beard, in order to assist having healthier beard, absent or missing in certain parts of the face due to familial factors, genetic structure, accidents or various diseases.

Beard Transplant

Beard transplantation operations lasting about 2 to 3 hours, is a micro-surgical operation that can be performed to anyone with a general good health condition after 24 years of age. Beard transplantation is performed under local anesthesia, but no pain is felt during operation.

Beard transplantation can only be performed with the patient’s own hair follicles.

If the roots of your face and nape are inadequate, different parts of the body can be used as donor area.

It is an operation that lasts about 2-3 hours depending on the number of roots to be planted.

The channels on the skin are opened with needles called ‘micro punch’ with a diameter of 0,6 – 0,7 mm. Thus, no trace of operation occurs.

As in hair transplantation, the patient does not need to stay at hospital after beard transplantation.

Small red dots may occur after the operation. These red dots are blood clots and are useful for feeding the planted beard roots. They disappear completely in about 1 week.

After the second week, the length of the beard can be shortened with scissors.

Again after the second week, the event is called a shock spill. After the shock is shed, all of the beard that has been planted is reappeared between 4 and 8 months.

After the operation, it is recommended that the beard shave should be done 1 month after operation in order the roots to be held.

Who Can Have Beard Transplantation?

The person who decides to make a beard transplant is firstly to be examined, and if he has a beard loss, he has to learn why. If there is shedding due to stress or hormonal disturbance, treatment should be done before the beard transplantation. Because as long as there is no permanent loss or sparsity, the beard is not cultivated.

The person who will have beard transplantation should be in good health. In cases of diabetes, blood pressure, anemia and hemophilia, beard can be applied after the doctor’s approval, while the transplantation operation is not carried out in infectious diseases such as Hepatitis B, HIV.

Beard formation starts with puberty in some men and beard formation in some men can begin at an advanced age. For this reason, people who want to add a beard are expected to be over the age of 24, except for a few exceptions. What is important here is that the patient is actually experiencing beardlessness or sparse in that area. Thinking that the beard will not come out in the early ages and people who want to do transplant, should make a very careful decision, not transplanting the beard without being sure of the beardlessness.

In addition, the adequacy of the donor area is also important for adding a beard. Beard transplantation is a hair transplant and can only be performed with the patient’s own hair follicles. People who have no hair cannot be transplanted. The neck area, cheek tops, neck hairs, hair follicles on the chest or back can be used as donor areas for beard transplant.
