It was just when we moved to the new HD studios in so everything was a lot clearer and a lot more obvious on screen. I was thinking “Oh my good- that is looking very thin” and the viewers may not even notice at home but in the studio the HD quality magnifies everything. I began to hide it and style it differently so I thought to myself that something needed to change. I only live down the road from Thérapie here in Malahide and I heard they were doing a treatment where they take a strip from the back of your head as well as individual follicles and re-transplant them at the front.
For me, I came in to the clinic in the morning and they took a strip with 2,000 follicles and then 500 individual follicles. It was amazing- they had a team of people working under microscopes to remove the hair and then the doctor replants each individual one into the front of your scalp.
Well you don’t feel a thing because they numb the area and the only thing you feel is the small injection before they start the procedure.
Cllr. Ken O’Flynn
man about town, Kenneth O’Flynn is putting his pride to one side by taking the plunge and travelling to Turkey for a hair transplant.
The dapper Fianna Fail city councillor told us that he has been going bald since he was 14 and it has continuously knocked his confidence and he has no problem saying that it is a vanity issue.
Fear not, admitting that he has been greatly encouraged by our very own Marty Whelan, the son of the former TD Noel O’Flynn will pack his bags for south-east Europe as he transforms his already handsome appearance.
The cute Corkonian will pay just under €2,000 in Turkey, a fraction of the massive €10,000 price tag here in Ireland.
The X Factor judge changed up his appearance after Simon Cowell told him he was losing his hair.
He told Times Magazine: “I could have just left it and got on with things, but with TV today, everything is in high definition, and people notice every little thing. And if you’re getting on, and you’re on TV with a lot of young people, you have to look after yourself. So I thought ‘I don’t want a bald spot! I’m going to get this sorted.”
